Description

Dnipropetrovsk is the financial centre of Ukraine. The seats of over 40 largest public and private banks are located in this city, being one of the youngest in the country. The best known football club of the city is Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

Additional accommodation for guests and fans during matches of UEFA EURO 2012:

  1. 23 suburban rest houses (on average they can sleep 230 persons each; the total sleeping capacity: 5,290). Rest houses are located in the woods, 75 km from the stadium. They offer double and triple rooms, restaurants and additional amenities. They would be categorized as 3-star facilities;
  2. 29 suburban camping sites (on average they can sleep 190 persons each; the total sleeping capacity: 5,500). The sites are located in the woods, 75 km from the stadium and they offer cabins sleeping between four and ten persons. There are restaurants on the sites;
  3. 35 dormitories owned by state institutions, universities, academies etc. (on average they can sleep 315 persons each; the total sleeping capacity: 11,205). The dormitories are located in the city, not more than 10 km form the stadium. There are restaurants, shops and other facilities on their premises. They will undergo a complete overhaul for UEFA EURO 2012;
  4. 42 private pensions (on average they can sleep 45 persons each; the total sleeping capacity: 1,890);
  5. Camping fields: sleeping capacity: 3,550;
  6. Uncategorized hotels, which after refurbishment and modernization could be used in 2012 to sleep 530 guests.

Infrastructure

Plans for the modernization of the infrastructure
Dnipropietrovsk has already begun a comprehensive refurbishment of the traffic system. The plan covers construction of new roads, a railway station, underground etc. The total cost of all investments in the coming 5 years is estimated at EUR 670 million (over CHF 1 billion).

Additional transport capacities
Additional bus lines will be created and new underground lines will be put into operation.

Traffic arrangements
The problem of jams on the main boulevard in rush hours will be eliminated by restricting access to the city center for private cars, increasing the number of parking spaces and improving road traffic management methods.
