Wrocławs Strachowice airport will be completely refurbished. The municipal transport network in the western part of the city is also to be thoroughly overhauled.
A new air terminal, with the area of almost 40 thousand square meters is planned to be completed as early as in 2010. By that time the airstrip is to be lengthened, a parking apron, a taxing strip and fast descent runway are to be added. Eventually the airport is to admit 2.8 million passengers annually. Reconstruction of the entire airport, which is to cost over PLN 670 million, is planned to be completed in 2015, but major investments will be deployed before commencement of EURO 2012.
The entire reconstruction of Strachowice is to cost over PLN 670 million. Half of the money will come from EU assistance funds.
- In the sectoral program we earmarked EUR 400 million for development of eight Polish airports - said Eugeniusz Wróbel of the Ministry for Regional Development.
Authorities of the city and voivodeship have already allocated for development of the airport the total of PLN 33 million. This is not the only expenditure borne by the city – the western transport network will be refurbished at the cost of PLN 2 billion.
